The festive table is an integral part of any holiday, and on the New Year, every housewife considers it her duty to set the table with the most delicious dishes, most of which can be described as spicy, fatty, heavy. As a result, holiday feasts can become a serious test for the stomach, liver, kidneys and even the heart. In order for you to remember the holiday only for its pleasant moments, you must prepare your body for the feast.
Many are sure that before a feast you need to eat nothing for the whole day (after all, there are so many goodies ahead), and before the New Year holidays it wouldn’t hurt to go on a diet in order to amaze everyone with your appearance at the holiday. In fact, this is wrong and, moreover, harmful to the body.
Remember what not to do before sitting down to a rich holiday table. On the day before the feast, you cannot limit yourself in food. This is necessary in order not to overeat during the holiday. After all, the consequences of this will be not only extra folds on your body, but also problems with the liver, which is unlikely to cope with large amounts of fatty food mixed with no less amount of alcohol.
Another point that helps you understand how to prepare your body for a feast is the ban on express diets for quick weight loss and fasting days immediately before the holiday. The fact is that during a diet or fasting, the body does not receive a sufficient amount of nutrients, which is why the body produces few digestive enzymes. And their lack after a heavy feast will give you an upset stomach.
You should not eat heavy (fatty, smoked, etc.) food the day before the feast; this will make the work of the pancreas and liver easier (they still have a lot of work to do in coping with the consequences of the feast). You cannot limit yourself in drinking; drink at least one and a half liters of clean water.
The best way to prepare for a festive feast is to eat moderately throughout the day. Preference should be given to dairy dishes and cereals; vegetable salads and fruits are ideal as snacks. There should be at least three meals. If you adhere to fractional meals in everyday life, then the day before the feast should not be different from the others. At the last meal before the feast (about 2 hours before), it is useful to eat a few tablespoons of bran with juice or kefir. This way you will reduce the feeling of hunger and will not lose your head at the sight of a rich holiday table.
Bon appetit! And be healthy!
