As of May 1, 2025, 285 cumulative cases of HIV infection were registered in the Polotsk region; 192 people living with HIV.

The prevalence rate in the Polotsk region is 193.94 cases per 100 thousand population (in the Vitebsk region - 140.85 cases per 100 thousand population).

In January-April 2025, 4 new cases of HIV infection were identified in the Polotsk region, the incidence rate was 4.04 cases per 100 thousand population, in January-April 2024 - 4 new cases (4.02 per 100 thousand population), table 1.

The cumulative number of cases of HIV infection in the group of fertile age 15–49 years (adolescents and adults) in the Polotsk region is 274 people (the share in the overall structure of HIV-positive people is 96.14%). During January-April 2025, 4 cases of HIV infection (100%) were registered in the Polotsk region in the age group 15-49 years.

For individual age groups of the population, during the entire observation period, cases of HIV infection were distributed as follows: 0-14 years - 1.78% (5 cases), 15 - 19 years - 1.07% (3 cases), 20 - 24 years - 14.23% (40 cases), 25 - 29 years - 14.95% (42 cases), 30 - 34 years - 17.44% (49 cases), 35 - 39 years old - 18.51% (52 cases), 40 - 44 years old - 16.01% (45 cases), 45 - 49 years old - 4.98% (14 cases), 50 - 59 years old - 8.54% (24 cases), 60 years old and older - 2.49% (7 cases).

By individual age groups of the population for January-April 2025, cases of HIV infection were distributed as follows: 0-14 years - 0% (0 cases), 15 - 19 years - 0% (0 cases), 20 - 24 years - 0% (0 cases), 25 - 29 years - 25% (1 case), 30 - 34 years - 0% (0 cases), 35 - 39 years - 50% (2 cases), 40 - 44 years - 25% (1 case), 45 - 49 years - 0% (0 cases), 50 -59 years - 0% (0 cases), 60 years and older - 0% (0 cases).

In general, as of 05/01/2025 in the Polotsk region, the proportion of women out of the total number of HIV-positive is 43.86% (125 women), men - 56.14% (160 men).

For January - April 2025, the share of women is 50% (2 women), men - 50% (2 men), for January - April 2024 the share of women is 50% (2 women), men - 50% (2 men). During the period 1987 - 2024, 5 children diagnosed with HIV infection were born from HIV-positive mothers in the Polotsk region, including 1 child in 2019.

According to cumulative data (1987–05/01/2025) in the Polotsk region, 10.53% (30 cases) of those infected with the human immunodeficiency virus were infected through the blood (through intravenous drug administration), the proportion of persons whose infection occurred through sexual contact is 86.67% (247 cases). Infection by other routes of transmission (vertical, unknown) accounts for 2.81% (8 cases).

In January-April 2025, in the structure of HIV transmission routes, the share of sexual transmission in the Polotsk region was 100% (4 people).

According to cumulative data (1987–05/01/2025), 93 HIV-infected people died for various reasons in the Polotsk region.

In January-April 2025, 3 people died, in January-April 2024 – 1 person.
