In winter, our shoes are at risk - anti-icing agents, salt, and slush are not good for them! How to protect shoes and boots from exposure to cold environments, chemicals and moisture? Regardless of the materials from which the shoes are made, they should be dried before cleaning. Do not use external heat sources: do not dry your shoes on a radiator. It could ruin it. Better buy wooden shoe trees. The wood will absorb moisture and will not allow the materials to deform. Let's deal with salt. Shoes made of suede are most vulnerable to salt. Salt stains not only spoil the appearance, but also negatively affect the material. Wait until the shoes are completely dry, and then remove salt stains with a brush or eraser. Shoe polish and wax are not suitable for suede. Water-repellent products will come to your aid. Just apply the water repellent several times, each time waiting for it to dry completely. A completely different approach to removing salt stains on leather shoes. First, go through with a brush, and then remove the white stains with a soft cloth, pre-moistened in a vinegar solution (in a 1:1 ratio of vinegar and water). Leather shoes should be cleaned frequently. Ideally, before every exit. Creams contain substances that soften the skin and increase water resistance. These qualities are especially necessary for shoes in winter. Use wax and shoe polish! Select creams by color and apply them half an hour to an hour before going out. First, clean the shoes with a dry brush, then use mink oil to remove the cream remaining after the last cleaning, and after all this, apply shoe polish with a brush. Don't wear the same pair every day. Have two or three pairs for each season. Use anti-slip sole pads! They protect the sole from moisture and damage (and you from fractures and bruises). They can be manufactured and installed in any shoe repair shop. This choice is especially relevant in our winters, when puddles turn into a skating rink in the evening, and melt again by morning. FloorUse a water-repellent spray: your shoes will be dry and you can avoid salt stains.
