Attention! “Thin Ice” - a special preventive event of the Ministry of Emergency Situations will be held throughout the Vitebsk region from March 10 to 16.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds:

📏safe ice thickness is 7 cm for one person;

🧊on reservoirs, the thickness of the ice in different places is different;

🎣thin ice is located off the coast, in the area of rifts and rapids, at the confluence of rivers, on bends, near frozen objects, in places where warm and sewer drains drain;

🌞at a temperature of 0°C, maintained for three days, the strength of ice decreases by 25%; 🛟a life jacket is required; 🪛don’t forget to take “rescue bags” with you;

🤝do not go fishing alone and in a deserted place, otherwise no one will help you if necessary;

📞warn your loved ones about your location and return time. In 2025, during the big weekend alone (from March 7 to 9), 15 people drowned in the republic, including 1 child.

If you decide to go out on the ice, don’t forget that you are loved and waited at home. Take care of yourself!
