Due to the current demographic situation, “population aging” is observed throughout the world. It is already clear that in the near future the overwhelming majority on our planet will be elderly people. However, health and longevity are in the hands of each of us.
Longevity depends on lifestyle. We all know that people age differently. Some years add to illness and disease, while others remain healthy and physically active in old age. After all, diseases are not necessarily accompaniments of aging.
To maintain and strengthen health, it is necessary, first of all, to systematic work, alternating with rest. Labor activity is a natural condition of human life. The work of an elderly person should be interesting, useful, corresponding to his abilities and functional capabilities of the body. Labor provides the body with the necessary stimuli, without which it is not capable of long life.
However, it should be taken into account that long and intense work leads to overwork and causes certain harm to the body. Properly organized rest improves mood, causes a feeling of satisfaction with life, gives strength and vigor. A special place in the organization of rest is occupied by sleep, which provides the body with restoration of performance, normal tone and stability of the nervous system. It is recommended to sleep 7-8 hours, preferably go to bed and get up at the same time. You should not have a heavy dinner, drink coffee or alcohol, or smoke before going to bed. It's better to take a walk in the fresh air.
Equally important for longevity is a balanced diet. For the elderly, it should be built taking into account age, gender, physical activity, and health status. You should limit your caloric intake by eating fat-rich animal products. Eat porridge more often (especially buckwheat and oatmeal), but without butter - after cooking, add a little low-fat milk directly to the plate. Limit your consumption of pure table salt to a teaspoon per day, and it is better to use iodized salt. At any time of the year, eat vegetables and fruits daily in the form of fresh fruits, juices, compotes and fruit drinks, salads, boiled and stewed dishes. Add vegetables and fruits to porridge a few minutes before cooking or directly to the plate. Don't forget to take vitamin complexes all year round.
By observing a work-rest schedule and leading a healthy lifestyle, you can extend your active longevity. It's never too late to become healthy. Don't forget - your health is in your hands!
